Black Friday, honestly

Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November. Most of what gets called a deal that week isn’t one. This is how we’re covering it: no countdown clocks, no invented discounts — just the home finds worth buying if their price really does fall, and how to check that it has.

How to tell a real deal

  1. Decide what you want before the event starts. A list made in October is a plan; a basket filled on the day is an impulse with a discount sticker.
  2. Note today’s price now. Save the item and write down what it costs this week. That is your benchmark — not the crossed-out figure shown in November.
  3. Look at the price history. Free trackers such as CamelCamelCamel and Keepa chart what an Amazon product has actually sold for. A real deal sits clearly below the last three months.
  4. Ignore the percentage. A big percentage off a price nobody paid means nothing. The only number that matters is what you pay against what it usually costs.
  5. Check the return window. Amazon usually extends returns on gifts bought in the run-up to Christmas into January — confirm it on the listing before you rely on it.

What we’re watching

The watchlist is being built now: the big, useful things for the house that hold a steady price all year and tend to see a real reduction in late November. Each will carry what it is good for and the one catch, the same as every find here.

Black Friday 2026: quick answers

When is Black Friday 2026 in the UK?
Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November. Cyber Monday follows on Monday 30 November. The date is the same in the UK as in the US: the day after American Thanksgiving.
When do Amazon UK Black Friday deals start?
Amazon has not confirmed its 2026 dates yet. In recent years its UK Black Friday event has opened about a week before the day itself and run through Cyber Monday, so the third week of November is the time to start watching the things on your list.
Are Black Friday deals actually cheaper?
Some are; many are not. The consumer group Which? has repeatedly found that most Black Friday deals it tracked were the same price or less at other times of the year. A deal is only a deal measured against what the item really sold for over the past few months, not against the crossed-out price beside it.
How can I tell whether an Amazon deal is real?
Check the price history rather than the percentage badge. Free trackers such as CamelCamelCamel and Keepa chart what an Amazon product has sold for over time. If the Black Friday price is not clearly below where it has sat for the last three months, it is an ordinary price with a banner on it.
What is worth buying for the home on Black Friday?
Things you already meant to buy that hold a steady price the rest of the year: small kitchen appliances, vacuums, bedding and duvets, electric blankets, heated airers and dehumidifiers. These see real reductions. Decorative items and anything with a permanently inflated "was" price are the least reliable.
Does The Found Edit list Black Friday prices?
No. Amazon prices move by the hour during Black Friday week, so any price printed here would be wrong almost immediately. We tell you which finds are worth having and what to check; the link shows the price as it stands today.
